Tabraiz Shamsi returns to South Africa squad

South Africa bowler Tabraiz Shamsi has rejoined the national team ahead of the second Test against Sri Lanka, two days after flying back home due to family reasons. The islanders are currently leading the two-match series 1-0 and will host the Proteas for the second game starting on July 20.
“Shamsi's always been a part of the squad,” Keshav Maharaj reportedly said. “Something happened in his family and it was unforeseen, but he's back and he's ready to go.”
Shamsi’s sudden ouster from the team had increased another spinner Shaun von Berg’s chances of earning a debut. However, the South African side is now unlikely to tinker with their frontline spin attack comprising Shamsi and Maharaj.

The two spinners accounted for eight Sri Lanka wickets in the first clash. The Proteas lost the match by 278 runs after totaling only 199 runs across both innings.
South Africa will face Sri Lanka in five more ODIs and a one-off T20I following the Test series. Shamsi is also part of the squads for the limited-overs leg of this tour.
