India bowler announces retirement from cricket

India fast-bowler Parvinder Awana has called it quits from all forms of cricket. In a statement released on his twitter handle, the 31-year-old announced his retirement, on Tuesday (July 17).
The tweet read: “I hereby bring to your kind notice that I am retiring from all formats of first class and international cricket with immediate effect. I have always enjoyed and played this wonderful game since my debut in international cricket on 20 Dec 2012 and in first class on 1st Dec 2007 till my last game. I feel that it’s the right time to pass the baton to the younger guys.”

Awana has featured in 62 first-class matches scalping 191 wickets at an average of 29.23. He last featured in a first-class game for Delhi back in 2016, nine years after making his debut for the same team. The bowler has also played two T20Is for India.
Awana has 63 List A wickets and 77 T20 wickets to his name. He was roped in by IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab in 2012 and his last appearance for the side came in 2016 when the Punjab-based franchise lost the final match against Kolkata Knight Riders. One of his exceptional achievements in T20s remains a hat-trick against Chennai Super Kings in the now-defunct Champions League T20 in 2014.
