Zimbabwe suffer another injury blow

In a blow to the depleted Zimbabwe, Solomon Mire has been ruled out of their upcoming ODI series against Pakistan. He will be out of action for three weeks due to a gluteal tear.

Mire was the highest run-getter for Zimbabwe and the third overall top-scorer in the triangular series earlier this month. He scored 212 runs in four matches at 53, including a 94-run knock against Pakistan, which is the highest individual T20I innings for his country.

“He [Mire] will be out for at least three weeks as he concentrates on physiotherapy rehabilitation which aims to speed up healing and make sure the tear heals without tight scar tissue formation,” Zimbabwe physiotherapist Anesu Mupotaringa said.

Zimbabwe will also miss the service of Kyle Jarvis who was ruled out for six weeks after sustaining an injury in the opening game of the recently-concluded tri-series.

The African side is already missing some of their most experienced players, who are out of the squad due to a pay dispute with the board.

Former U19 captain Liam Roche, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Ryan Murray are the three uncapped inclusions in the squad. Hamilton Masakadza will lead the team in the five-match series against Pakistan, starting on July 13.
