A confident bowling unit has helped Bangladesh clinch yet another victory in the Women’s World T20 qualifier. They have qualified for the semi-finals winning all three group encounters and will now face Scotland in a bid to earn a spot in the final.

After winning the first two group matches against Papua New Guinea and the Netherlands, the Tigresses faced the UAE where they produced another impressive bowling display by reducing the opponents to their worst T20I score.

Fahima Khatun was instrumental in Bangladesh’s eight-wicket win as she became the first-ever Bangladesh cricketer to have taken a hat-trick in T20Is.

Fahima bagged 4 wickets and Nahida Akhter and Rumana Ahmed took two scalps each as the UAE women were all out for 39 in 16.2 overs. The Tigresses were quick to take wickets as the UAE became 33/8 from a score of 33/2, after Fahima achieved the rare feat.

Opener Esha Rohit Oza top-scored for the UAE adding 18 runs to the total while the rest of the batters failed to reach the double-figures.

An unbeaten 21-run innings from Nigar Sultana along with another 15-run knock from Sanjida Islam saw Bangladesh win the game with 79 balls to spare.

Sanjida was dismissed by Nisha Ali after sharing a 24-run stand with Nigar following Ayasha Rahman’s dismissal off Subha Srinivasan.

The semi-final between Bangladesh and Scotland will be held on July 12 and the winner of the game will seal one of the two remaining spots for the Women’s World T20.
