Clinical West Indies continue to humiliate Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s start to the two-match Test series couldn’t have been any worse as West Indies ripped apart their batting line-up to bundle out the hapless team for just 43 runs in the first innings of the series opener. The Shakib-led men are still struggling to get into rhythm as the Caribbean side has kept piling on the pressure.
Bangladesh have again put on a wobbly batting display in the second innings and are currently trailing by 301 runs at the end of day-2.
Their experienced batters have once again failed to stand firm against the Caribbean bowling attack. After scoring only 43 runs in the first innings, the team has posted 62 runs for 6 wickets in the second innings so far.
Mahmudullah Riyad finished the day on 15 runs and will resume the third day's play alongside Mehidy Hasan. The only other batsmen to have score more than 10 runs in the second innings are Tamim Iqbal (13) and Shakib Al Hasan (12).
Shannon Gabriel, who failed to take any scalp in the previous innings, has already taken a four-wicket haul. Windies skipper Jason Holder has also got two wickets to his name.
It all started with a magnificent fifer from Kemar Roach in the first innings. Opener Liton Das tried to salvage the pride but he could only manage to become the lone batsman to have reached the double figures for Bangladesh in that innings. Miguel Cummins sent him back to the hut for 25 runs.
Cummins scalped two more wickets before Jason Holder wiped out the tail. It took the West Indian bowlers only 18.4 overs to put an end to Bangladesh’s miserable innings.

West Indies took a massive 158-run lead on the very first day and were determined to add to the visitors’ woes by scoring a truckload of runs. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite picked up his century before lunch on the second and then came the positive responses from the Tigers’ camp.
Devon Smith and Kieron Powell stitched good partnerships with the centurion on the previous day and made 58 and 48 runs, respectively. Devendra Bishoo came in as nightwatchman with two overs remaining on day-1 and prevented further wicket-loss. He got out scoring 19 runs on day-2 and the spinners were on a roll following the lunch break on day-2.
Mehidy and Shakib struck twice each to remove Brathwaite before Roston Chase and Shane Dorwich fell cheaply and Holder returned to the pavilion scoring 33 runs. Kemar Roach was also dismissed scoring as many runs as Holder.
Meanwhile, Shai Hope picked up a fifty as West Indies reached 400 runs. Abu Jayed quickly removed Hope and Gabriel to end the Windies innings, but by then they had already registered a 363-run lead.
Apart from batting and bowling poorly, Bangladesh have been equally awful in the fielding department. They haven’t had too many chances in the game and even when the bowlers tried to produce some, the fielders couldn’t provide enough support.
