Woeful Bangladesh still struggling against Windies

Bangladesh’s start to the two-match Test series couldn’t have been any worse as West Indies ripped apart their batting line-up to bundle out the hapless team for just 43 runs in the first innings of the series opener. The Shakib-led men are still struggling to get into rhythm as the Caribbean batters have kept piling on the pressure.
It all started with a magnificent fifer from Kemar Roach who dismissed all the experienced batters of the opponents. Opener Liton Das, on the other hand, tried to salvage the pride of his side by standing firm against the Caribbean bowling attack but couldn’t manage to score more than 25 runs as Miguel Cummins sent him back to the hut.
Cummins also scalped the wickets of Nurul Hasan and Mehidy Hasan before Jason Holder wiped out the tail. It took the West Indian bowlers only 18.4 overs to put an end to Bangladesh’s miserable innings.
West Indies took a massive 158-run lead on the very first day and are now looking to add to the visitors’ woes by scoring a truckload of runs. Abu Jayed, Mahmudullah, and Kamrul Islam have succeeded in scalping one wicket each but that was of very little help to the Tigers as Kraigg Brathwaite is still on the crease after picking up his a century before lunch on day-2. He has scored 121 runs so far.

Devon Smith and Kieron Powell stitched good partnerships with the centurion on the previous day and made 58 and 48 runs, respectively. Devendra Bishoo came in as nightwatchman with two overs remaining on day-1 and prevented further wicket-loss. He returned scoring 19 runs and Shai Hope is currently batting on 14, alongside Brathwaite.
Apart from batting and bowling poorly, Bangladesh have been equally awful in the fielding department. They have dropped a good chance off Brathwaite again on the second day. Mushfiqur dropped him on the previous day when he was batting on 78.
