India suffer another injury blow

Jasprit Bumrah injured his left thumb during India’s T20I encounter against Ireland on June 27. He now has been ruled out of the team’s upcoming three-T20I series against England. He sat out the second T20I, where India secured a whitewash over the Irish side.
The pacer’s injury comes as a major blow for the team as they already have another injured player, Washington Sundar, sidelined. The all-rounder twisted his ankle while playing football before the second T20I against Ireland.
According to reports, Shardul Thakur or Deepak Chahar could replace Bumrah in the T20I squad, which already consists of the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Siddarth Kaul, and Hardik Pandya. Bumrah is expected to return to the team before India’s three-ODI series against England.

The first T20I is scheduled to be held on July 3, at Old Trafford. Following the T20I series, India will take on the hosts in an ODI series, which will take place between July 12 and 17. England are also due to host India for five Tests.
