Jahanara's fifer helps Bangladesh script thrilling win

The Tigresses have started their tour of Ireland by claiming the series opener over the hosts. The newly crowned Women’s Asia Cup champions have clinched a 4-wicket victory against Ireland women and are now leading the three-match series 1-0.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first. Jahanara justified the decision as she ripped through the Irish batting line-up by taking the first-ever five-wicket haul for Bangladesh women in T20Is.
Bangladesh skipper Salma Khatun and Khadija Tul Kubra also took one wicket apiece as Ireland posted a total of 134 runs for 8.
Isobel Joyce registered the highest individual score (41) from the Irish camp. Gaby Lewis, Laura Delany, and Kim Garth also made 20-odd runs each while the rest of the batters failed to reach double figures.

Bangladesh then rode on a fine 46-run innings from Nigar Sultana before Fahima Khatun pulled off the run chase in the very last ball of the innings. Fahima made 26 runs and another effective innings from her side came from Ayasha Rahman’s bat, who scored 24 runs before falling victim to a run out. Sanjida Islam also suffered the same fate as Ayasha, before returning to the pavilion while Eimear Johnson and Gaby Lewis shared the other four wickets.
Bangladesh will face Ireland in the remaining matches on June 29 and July 1. They will then travel the Netherlands to play in the Women’s World T20 qualifiers, scheduled to be held between July 7 and 14.
