UAE set to host the Afghanistan Premier League in October

Just a day after negotiating with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over Afghan Premier League dates, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has approved the staging of the league in October this year. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has confirmed the news in a media release on Wednesday (June 27).
United Arab Emirates’ plans of hosting the Afghan Premier League (APL) and also their own T20 league created some scheduling conflicts between their authorities and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
PCB had earlier warned the UAE authorities to choose between them and the other T20 leagues. They had also moved to bring down the rent they pay to the UAE for using their stadiums.

The ECB on Tuesday (June 27) announced that PCB will continue to host its major tournaments in the UAE. They have also committed to a significant reduction of the costs for the tournaments organized by the PCB. The board will not host any League during Pakistan’s T20I or ODI fixtures and the PSL.
ECB’s own T20 tournament, the Emirates T20 League will be held between December 10, 2018 and January 10, 2019, when there are no PCB fixtures in the UAE.
APL was launched by ACB back in January and is yet to be sanctioned by ICC. The five-team tournament is scheduled to run from October 5 to 23 this year.
