Scotland cruise past Netherlands in title-clinching encounter

Scotland have staged a great comeback to win the tri-nation series in the Neherlands, involving Ireland and the hosts.
Following a historic ODI victory against top-ranked England, the high-flying Scotland team were brought down to earth by Ireland, who needed a win to keep their title hopes alive after two successive defeats to the Netherlands. However, the Irish side was knocked out of the race after being held to a tie by Scotland in their very next clash.
Scotland then registered back-to-back wins over the Netherlands after the two winless encounters against Ireland.
It was once again the top-order batsmen of Scotland who helped the team register a daunting total in the sixth and final game of the tournament. The Netherlands were thrown under a truckload of runs and were eventually crushed by the Kyle Koetzer-led men.
Batting first – in a game where nothing less than a victory would work for the team – Scotland rode on some fine batting display from the top four batters. A 50-run opening partnership off 26 deliveries was brought to an end by the departure of the captain.

Koetzer made 24 runs before returning to the pavilion but another opener, George Munsey, went on to score 71 from just 34 deliveries. Matthew Cross also notched a composed fifty while sharing two successful partnerships with Munsey and Richie Barrington.
Barrington’s 30-ball innings of 64 runs lifted the total past 200 as the team went on to post 221 for three wickets.
In reply, the Netherlands knelt down before Scotland’s bowling attack and were bundled out for a paltry 106 runs in 14 overs as only three of their batsmen managed to enter the double-digits.
Hamza Tahir was the pick of Scotland’s bowlers. He bagged three wickets while each of the other five bowlers took one scalp to help Scotland win the match by 115 runs.
Scores:
