Ziaur Rahman conquers Prime Bank Ltd.


In the 22nd match of the DPL on Saturday, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club nudged ahead of Prime Bank Ltd in order to grab the second spot in the points table. Both the teams have now won three matches and lost one in the ongoing tournament.
Winning the toss, Prime Bank sent the opponents to bowl first. They registered a total of 227 runs losing all their wickets. Their opener Mehdi Maruf posted the highest individual score for the team by clubbing 41 runs.
All other batsmen got a couple of runs but failed to capitalize on it to score a bigger innings. While the batting-side kept losing wicket on regular intervals, Sajjaddul Haque stitched a 68-run partnership with Delwar Hossain in the 8th wicket to lift their total past 200. Sajjad amassed 35 off 60 whereas Delwar made 26 runs.
Robiul Haque and Elias Sunny destroyed the top & middle-order by sharing five wickets among them. Robiul bagged 3 wickets and Elias got 2 wickets. Abu Jayed picked up the same number of wickets as Elias while Sohag Gazi also scalped a wicket.
Sheikh Jamal had no difficulties chasing the middling total with a 70-run opening stand and another 65 runs in the following wicket. Ziaur Rahman got the highest score for his team by posting 67 runs.
Another opener, Shykat Ali made 39 runs and the same amount of runs came from DS Rangi’s bat as well.

Nurul Hasan and Tanbir Hayder remained not out on 28 and 12, respectively, to chase down the total in 44.4 overs.
Rubel Hossain, Ariful Haque and Delwar Hossain took a wicket each for the losing side and Monir Hossain took two scalps.
