After being trumped in the tri-nation series as well as the Test series by the Lankans, Bangladesh's last chance to mount a come back also resulted in a negative outcome for the Tigers. They lost the last T20I by 75 runs and fell victim to a whitewash against Sri Lanka in the 2-match series.

In the first T20I, they had a chance, but they lost it when Sri Lanka won quite comfortably against them. Despite scoring near 200 runs in the first game, Bangladesh couldn't defend it and lost the first game.

And now, with this being the last encounter of Sri Lanka's tour of Bangladesh, the Tigers had a golden opportunity to give their fans something to cheer about.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sri Lanka openers started punishing the bowlers from the very beginning. Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka shared an opening stand of 98 runs.

Sri Lanka got the kind of start they wanted. Both of the batsmen maintained the momentum and the kept the score ticking. Kusal picked up his second successive half-century in this series and is batting on 50 off 29 deliveries. Gunathilaka provided the proper support to his partner with 42 off 37 before Soumya Sarkar dismissed him.
