Another record awaits Virat Kohli in T20Is

Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, became the first ever player to amass over 500 runs in bilateral ODI series. He guided India to an astounding 5-1 ODI series win over the Proteas in South Africa. The star batsman received the Man of the Series award and topped the run-scoring list while Kuldeep Yadav made it to the first spot in the wicket-takers list in the same series.
Before the match at Centurion on Friday, Virat Kohli had 16969 international runs to his name. He went on to score his 35th ODI hundred as he played an unbeaten knock of 129 runs to guide India to an eight-wicket win in the sixth match of the series.
The World Cup-winning batsman has been on a record-shatteringhf spree and has already scored 56 international hundreds. He has the sixth highest number of centuries in international cricket. He is the only batsman in the world to average more than 50 in all three formats.
With three tons in the recently-concluded ODI series against South Africa, Virat Kohli clubbed 558 runs throughout the series. He was the top run-getter in ODIs in 2017. The star batsman made 1460 ODI runs in that year despite missing the home-series against Sri Lanka.
Virat Kohli overcame Ricky Ponting’s 30 centuries in ODIs in a 3-Ohe first match of a 3-ODI series against New Zealand, four months ago. He also became the fastest to cricketer to reach 9000 ODI runs in that series. The 'record-breaker' stands second when it comes to the most number of ODI centuries. He is 14 triple-digits away from reaching Sachin Tendulkar's 49 ODI centuries – a world record.

It took 259 innings for Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest to reach 10000 ODI runs. Kohli has gone past 500 runs this year after playing only one bilateral series. The right-handed batsman needs 412 more runs to touch the milestone of 10000 ODI runs after batting in 200 ODI innings throughout his career.
The Indian team, led by Virat Kohli, will take on South Africa in the upcoming 3-match T20I series starting from February 21. Kohli is the 3rd most run-scorer in the shortest format of international cricket after Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill. The India captain is 44 runs away from reaching 2000 T20I runs. Kohli has batted in 51 T20I innings and is still 17 innings shorter of the least number of innings to reach 2000 runs in T20Is.
During India’s last home-series against Sri Lanka, Kohli overtook Brian Lara’s record to become the only captain to hit six double-tons in Tests. He also equalled Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar's record for most double centuries in Test cricket by an Indian batsman.
The captain of the Men in Blue has kept enriching his plethora of records since becoming a regular face in the Indian team. He is also the fastest to reach 8000 & 9000 ODI runs. Kohli is also the second-fastest to reach multiples-of-thousand runs in the 50-overs game.
