Sujon decides new batting position for Mushfiq
With two half-centuries from Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh have registered their highest total in T20Is by clubbing 193 runs against Sri Lanka in the ongoing series. While the playing XI was filled with four new faces, Mushfiq came to bat at no.3, the position where Shakib was confirmed to bat before the all-rounder was sidelined due to an injury.
The right-handed batsman contributed in two 50+ partnerships along with each of Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah Riyad. The former skipper stood firm for the Tigers while the newcomers, as well as Sabbir Rahman, disappointed with their batting.
Bangladesh team's technical director Khaled Mahmud Sujon was delighted with the way Bangladesh started. He praised Mushfiq's batting as well. According to his statement, from now on, Mushfiq will be batting at no. 3. So, Mahmudullah and Shakib will again be batting at their former positions.
Sujon reportedly said, "It was a very good start. Positive start. Running between the wickets was good. Important not to play dot balls. We finished with two very experienced players, and the end was good.
"We're always thinking where Mushi [Mushfiqur Rahim] should bat, and the right position for him is No. 3. From this series, we decided that's where he'll bat. He's got his highest score, and Bangladesh's highest score as well. Let's see."
