Bangladesh former skipper Mohammad Ashraful has backed off from auctioning his bat after seeing some contradicting event going around.

Cricket stars are auctioning their priceless souvenirs for a noble cause. Shakib Al Hasan auctioned his bat for BDT 20 lakh which he used in the 2019 World Cup. Mushfiqur Rahim holds his first Test double centurion bat for the country. Mohammad Ashraful also wanted to hold up his centurion bat through which he brought the first win for Bangladesh against Australia in Cardiff in 2005.

Ashraful's bat was supposed to be held up for auction on 11 May on the Facebook page name 'Action 4 Action'. He wanted to fix the base price to be BDT 15 lakh. But his bat did not go up for auction on the scheduled date. Ashraful said that he has changed his decision and don't want to auction his favourite memoria right now.

The former skipper of Bangladesh showed his reason that he is not clear about the process of the auction.

"The auction process is not clear to me. I saw a lot of contradictory things happening in the case of Mushfiqur's bat. There is no point in auctioning off such a valuable memento if there is so much contradiction. Its main purpose is to get as much as money to help people as much as possible. The way the auction is going on in our country, I don't want to give the bat anymore," Ashraful said to a leading Bengali daily.

It has been learned that the organizers did not agree to the base price which Ashraful wanted to put. Ashraful said that there is no point of setting the price low if he can't spend the money for the welfare of the people.

"What’s the point of lowering the base price, If I have to sell it in such a lower price, I am already spending that much money for the welfare of the people. Many may think badly about me for coming back after giving an announcement. But the culture of auction has not developed that way in our country. If the culture of auction gets better then I will give. Hopefully it will improve gradually," Ashraful concluded.  a
