Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said on Tuesday that they should show patience with the national cricketers as he is confident that better performance is round the corner. The statement from former Bangladesh captain has come at the back a humiliating innings and 44 runs by day four to hosts Pakistan at Rawalpindi on Monday.

While country celebrated Bangladesh U19’s historic ICC U19 World Cup 2020 victory, the men’s were struggling to save the skin against Pakistan in the first of the two-match Test series. Bangladesh national team are returning home in two batches. First batch have reached Dhaka on Tuesday while the second batch is due to reach on Wednesday.

Besides cricketers, the board is also being blamed for little progress of the team in longer version of the game and key player’s not taking part in domestic longer version cricket is seen to key reason behind the slow development to which Minhajul argued.

“Performance totally depends on the players. They are getting required facilities in the field, there is no lacking (in managing) for longer version cricket. They have played first-class cricket before going and they performed as well. This is not like they did not play any four-day cricket at home and losing after going there. Performance has more priority than anything and you cannot compromise with your performance. And players should always discuss about this. And some players have lots of experience. Our one-day, T20 or Test, everyone is mature now. As country we want better performance. They will be playing at home [against Zimbabwe] then they will have to play back-to-back matches in Pakistan. We want them to play,” said chief of the national selection Minhajul to the reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

BCB are in plan to have different set of players for different formats of the game. With the defeat to Pakistan discussion in the fraternity is high if it is time to go ahead in executing the plan. Minhajul however is different to the thought citing it as a process that will require time to come in motion.
