Former Australia coach Darren Lehmann has opined that the Australian cricket team can win their series at home against India. Australia are without their two best batsmen David Warner and Steve Smith, rendering their batting unit weaker against a strong Indian team.
As a result, former Australia middle-order batsman Mike Hussey stated that the Indian cricket team have their best chance to win a series in Australia for the first time when they visit them in November this year.
However, Darren Lehman doesn’t concur with his compatriot, claiming that the team will be just fine because the Baggie Green have strength in depth, players who can fill the void left by the duo.

“A lot of people are writing us off in Australia. I’m not. We’re going to be OK,” he told Macquarie Sports Radio.
“Obviously, Warner and Smith are great players, and [Cameron] Bancroft was starting to come good in the last series. You’re going to miss those players and when they’re back they’re certainly going to have an effect on the team and results because they’ll play well. But our depth, it just gives another player an opportunity, a young kid coming through.”
He also added that Australia’s bowling won’t be a problem as it will be in its full strength with the return of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins from their respective injuries.
“The bowling is never going to be an issue. When you’ve got Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, Lyon, Pattinson, you’re 20 wickets aren’t going to be an issue, and that’s the first thing you need for Test match cricket,”
