Shakib released by LA Knight Riders ahead of MLC 2025 draft

Shakib had an underwhelming campaign with Los Angeles, scoring 60 runs in four matches at an average of 15 and a strike rate of 125. His bowling performance was even less impressive, as he managed to pick up just one wicket in four matches.

Along with Shakib, David Miller (South Africa), Jason Roy (England), and Adam Zampa (Australia) have also been released by the franchise. However, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Australian left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson have been retained.
Other MLC 2025 Retentions and Releases
Defending champions Washington Freedom have retained 15 players, but surprisingly released Travis Head, who scored 336 runs in nine matches last season. Other notable releases include Akeal Hosein and Andrew Tye.
Runners-up San Francisco Unicorns have retained Finn Allen and Jake Fraser-McGurk, but let go of their captain Pat Cummins, along with Matt Henry and Josh Inglis.

Seattle Orcas have retained only seven players, the fewest among all six teams. Their key retentions include Heinrich Klaasen and Ryan Rickelton, while they have released stars like Quinton de Kock, Michael Bracewell, Obed McCoy, and Nandre Burger.
Meanwhile, MI New York, the MLC 2024 champions, have kept Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Nicholas Pooran, and Rashid Khan, while parting ways with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Dewald Brevis, and Tim David.
Texas Super Kings will once again feature Faf du Plessis and Devon Conway, with Marcus Stoinis and Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad also retained. However, they have released Mitchell Santner, Matheesha Pathirana, Daryl Mitchell, and Naveen-ul-Haq.
Several domestic players have also been released, including Steven Taylor (New York), Shehan Jayasuriya (Seattle Orcas), and Jasdeep Singh (Washington Freedom).
The MLC 2025 Draft is scheduled to take place on February 19.
