According to BPL regulations, players are entitled to 75% of their salaries at this stage of the tournament, but they have only received 50% so far. While local players received part of their payments today, the dues for foreign players will be settled through their respective agents.

Amid rumors that Shafiqur might flee the country, law enforcement authorities took him into custody for questioning. During the interrogation, he committed to settling all outstanding payments in three installments by February 10. The first installment was due today, and by paying 25% to local players, the franchise has temporarily eased the pressure.

As of Sunday, Rajshahi was supposed to have paid 25% of the outstanding amount. Their failure to do so led to Shafiqur’s detention. In a statement, the Ministry of Sports said, “After receiving reports from various sources about potential lawsuits against the franchise owner, and in order to protect the country’s image, we conducted a more thorough investigation. Additionally, due to widespread rumors of the owner fleeing the country, the government was compelled to intervene.”

Admitting his fault, Shafiqur has assured that the remaining payments will be made in three installments of 25% each on February 3, 7, and 10.
