The outcome also caused Rangpur Riders to slip to third place in the standings, meaning they will now have to compete in the eliminator against Khulna Tigers.

Defending a commanding total of 206-4, Chittagong struck early, dismissing Barishal’s openers Tamim Iqbal (0) and Towhid Hridoy (9) within the Powerplay.

Dawid Malan and Mushfiqur Rahim tried to stabilize the innings with a 53-run partnership, but the required run rate kept climbing.

Mushfiqur, attempting to accelerate the scoring, fell to Aliss Al Islam after a 22-ball 24. Malan was the standout for Barishal, hammering 67 off 34 balls with five fours and six sixes, while Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 41 from 26 deliveries.

Despite their efforts, Barishal could only manage 182-7 in their allotted 20 overs, falling short of the target.

Chittagong’s win snapped Barishal’s six-match winning streak, although Barishal still topped the table with 18 points.

Earlier in the day, Emon signaled a return to form with an explosive innings featuring nine sixes and a four. His aggressive knock was well-supported by Haider Ali’s unbeaten 42 off 33 balls and Shamim Hossain’s quickfire 30* from just 12 balls, helping Chittagong post a formidable total after being asked to bat first.

Rangpur Riders, who finished with 16 points, dropped to third place due to an inferior net run rate compared to Chittagong and will now face Khulna Tigers in the eliminator on Monday.
