In the first match of the day at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Wednesday, Rangpur Riders posted 143/5 in their 20 overs. In response, Chittagong chased down the target comfortably with 14 balls to spare, winning by 5 wickets. Pakistan’s Haider Ali played a blistering knock to seal the victory.
With this crucial win, Chittagong Kings have moved one step closer to the Super Four, securing six wins in 10 matches. Their qualification will be confirmed if Khulna Tigers lose at least one of their remaining two games. Alternatively, Chittagong can secure a spot by winning just one of their last two matches.
Batting first, Rangpur Riders’ Soumya Sarkar scored 23 off 17 balls, while Iftikhar Ahmed played a brilliant knock of 65 off 47 balls, smashing seven fours and three sixes.
In response, Chittagong Kings lost early wickets but were steadied by Parvez Hossain Emon (41 off 43 balls), Graham Clark (15 off 12), and Mohammad Mithun (20 off 15).
The real match-winner, however, was Haider Ali, who played a blazing knock of 48 off just 18 balls, hitting six sixes and one four.
The highlight of his innings came in the 18th over, when he smashed four consecutive sixes off fellow Pakistani Akif Javed, sealing Chittagong’s dominant win.
