Tanzid Hasan Tamim has emerged as the leading six-hitter in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025. With 29 sixes in 10 matches, the left-handed opener has surpassed Tawhid Hridoy's record for the most sixes in a single season by a Bangladeshi batter.

However, Chris Gayle’s all-time record of 47 sixes in a season still looms large.

Entering the match against Chittagong Kings with 22 sixes, Tanzid needed just three more to surpass Hridoy’s record of 24 sixes in the 2022 season.

He achieved the milestone in style, smashing Shoriful Islam for consecutive sixes over deep square leg. Tanzid’s unbeaten 90 off 54 balls, featuring 7 sixes, helped Dhaka Capitals secure an 8-wicket victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

Tanzid’s six-hitting spree has placed him above stars like Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, and Evin Lewis, who previously hit 28 and 27 sixes in individual BPL seasons.

When asked about breaking Gayle’s record, Tanzid remained unfazed.

"I don’t think about these things. We have two matches left, and our focus is on finishing them well. If it happens, it happens. I’ll stick to my natural game," said the young opener at the post-match press conference.

In just 24 BPL matches, Tanzid has already smashed 50 sixes, an impressive feat for any batter. Asked about the secret to his power-hitting, he humbly replied, "There’s no secret. I play naturally and focus on my strengths during practice. I also work on correcting mistakes from previous games."

This season, Tanzid has scored 420 runs in 10 matches at an average of 46.66 and a strike rate of 143.83, including three fifties and a century.

Reflecting on his missed opportunity to score another century against Chittagong, he said, "I’m happy I could finish the innings. That’s more important to me than reaching a hundred."
