The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Tuesday have officially agreed to postpone the upcoming Test series in August and September for a later date.
It was widely expected that the New Zealand tour will also be postponed because of the mounting situation of the coronavirus in Bangladesh after Australia Cricket (CA) postponed their Bangladesh tour.

New Zealand were scheduled to play a two-match Test series which was a part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).
The two boards will now work on identifying a suitable time to reschedule the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said.
“In the present COVID-19 pandemic scenario, hosting a full cricket series in August 2020 will be a challenge in terms of preparations and we cannot take chances with the safety and health of players, support staff and related stakeholders,” BCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying in a BCB statement.
“Under these circumstances, the BCB and NZC have felt that the best way forward would be to defer the series. We realise that this will be hugely disappointing for the players and officials of both teams, not to mention the fans of the two nations but I must thank NZC for its understanding and for recognising the rationale behind such a decision,” Chowdhury added.
Earlier Australia cricket team’s visit to Bangladesh was also postponed for an indefinite period due to the COVID-19 situation worldwide.
