Taijul saved our life: Tamim

Bangladesh one day captain Tamim Iqbal revealed that left-arm spinner Taijul Islam football playing with Mushfiqur Rahim saved their lives in New Zealand.


Bangladesh team was just late by 3 to 4 minutes when a horrible bomb attack has struck in a New Zealand Mosque where all the players was supposed to go to perform their regular Friday prayer in Christchurch 2015.


Tamim disclosed the incident during his live show with Test captain Mominul Haque along with opener Soumya Sarkar and Liton Kumar Das on Facebook and YouTube channel.

Taijul joined the program in the later part of the show and afterward, Tamim revealed this story


‘’If Taijul was not in New Zealand and if hadn't done those cheating then none of us would have survived here except for Liton Das as he was in the hotel. I'm saying this about the attack happened in New Zealand. So, Taijul's big specialty is that he does not want to give up in any way. Normally the attack which was happened in New Zealand ‘’ Tamim said


‘’If we had reached there before one or even two minutes earlier than we too would have fallen into that attack,’’ he said.


‘’So, Taijul was contesting one-on-one football with Mushfiqur. We were three-four minutes late there. If you hadn't played on that day Taijul, none of us would have survived’’ Tamim added



Soumya also shared his experienced about the incident where he said he was there to save the team as he normally would not go to any mosque


‘’On that day we went for our practice. It was raining at that time. Coach told us that those who don't want to do practice can leave. So,I and Srinivas, the person who helps us through the computer. We thought that as everyone is going towards the mosque we will drop them and then we will take a taxi and go from there to the hotel as it will be easy for us to go from there'' Soumya  pointed out


‘’Tamim Bhai was on my left. So, while I was watching through the window, I saw a woman was walking and suddenly fell on the road. Then I said that Bhai, a women got shot. Then I got a reply from the front that who will shoot anyone here, even the Prime Minister of here walks around the road. I was sure that it was a senior who said that, basically it was Riyad Bhai. After hearing him I became silent and watching over the window while leaning on my sit. Then I told Tamim Bhai that look bunch of people are running barefooted. Then everyone became serious about it. Then women saved us’’Soumya concluded
