Former South Africa all-rounder Lance Klusener has been appointed as the new head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team and has replaced Phil Simmons for the role.
Klusener is a Level 4 certified coach and has worked as a bowling coach for Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Mumbai Indians, batting coach of South Africa Test side, consultant to South Africa National Academy, batting coach of Zimbabwe and batting coach of South Africa T20I team.

He was named the Man of the Tournament in the 1999 World Cup and has won uncountable matches for the Proteas during his playing days. Klusener will start his role ahead of the series against West Indies in November.
"I am extremely excited and honored to be given the opportunity to work with some of the best talent in world cricket," said Klusener of his appointment.
"Everyone knows the fearless brand of cricket Afghanistan play. I am very confident that with some hard work we can become one of the best sides in the world. I am really looking forward to working with the Afghanistan team and helping them take their cricket to the next level."
