The English pace man Jofra Archer expressed his gratitude towards his teammates to keep trust on his in the crunch moment.
Archer was given the task to defend 15 runs in the rare Super Over. He remained clam and delivered what the team wanted from his despite conceding a six in his legitimate second delivery.
As the Super Over was also tied, England was crowned the World Champions as per the boundary count.
Before the World cup, there was lot of talking about whether to include Archer or not in the World Cup squad. Archer is Caribbean by born, played just 13 ODI’s before the World Cup. But the England team and board trusted this young paceman and gave him the opportunity to shine in the Cricket’s biggest stage. And ha paid it off, taking 20 wickets in this World Cup and turned England’s World Cup dream into reality by defending 15 runs in the Super Over. Archer is grateful to his teammates for the trust and respect.. And said, there is no teammates better to share the glory.
“I knew that, if we did lose, it wasn't the end of the world. I am glad that the guys look up to me and they trust me to do it. This is a great team. I cannot imagine a better bunch of guys to share it with. I can't put it into words,” Archer said.
"The skipper, Eoin Morgan really believed in me, even after the six. A lot of captains could have had their head in their hands, but he was really calm and really understanding,” Archer added.
"I have had the best two months of my life. Making my debut, making my World Cup debut, and playing in the final in the space of two months. It is really special to me and hopefully I can look back 15 years down the line and say I was a part of that," Archer concluded.
