England all-rounder and the hero of World Cup final Ben Stokes has said that he will apologize to New Zealand captain Williamson for his whole life. But why did he say so? That’s because of an unexpected incident at the last over that denied New Zealand their maiden World Cup and took England closer to the first World Cup glory.
Stokes was at the striking end at the fourth ball at the last over. He pushed for two at the midwicket. Martin Guptil threw the ball towards the stamps, ball hit Stokes bat, changed direction and went to the boundary. Six runs were added in the England total, making their task relatively easier.

These extra four runs were the turning point of the match. Without these four runs England would have needed seven runs from two balls rather they required three from the last two balls. This incident was totally unintentional from Stokes and he said he will be apologizing to Williamson for the rest of his life.
“Ball hits my bat all on a sudden, I will apologize to Kane my whole life. Jofra Archer has shown his talent to the whole World. Everyone of ODI team, everyone of Test team and every member of family, the way they have supported, its truly incredible,” Stokes said.
Stokes has been phenomenal in the World Cup win of England. He was in great form with the bat and ball. He scored 465 runs in 11 matches and took seven wickets. Stokes said, they tried very hard for this World Cup for the last four years and they are getting sweet fruits of it now. He thinks, this type of breathtaking match won’t happen in cricket ever again.
“I have lost words. They hard work we have put in the last four years, we are getting the results of those now. I don’t think this type of match will happen in cricket history ever again,” Stokes added.
