Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has named leg spinner Rashid Khan as the Captain of Afghanistan in all three formats of cricket. Rashid replaced Gulbadin Naib as the captain of Afghanistan team after a poor World Cup performance. Former Captain Asghar Afgan is appointed as the deputy of Rashid Khan.
Rashid will debut as the captain of Afghanistan cricket team in September with the Test Series against Bangladesh. After that he will lead Afghanistan in the Tri-series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

Afghanistan didn’t win a single match in the World cup under the captaincy of Naib.
Gulbadi Naid’s own performance also drew huge criticism. He bowled with an economy rate of 6.39 and scored runs at an average of 21.5 in the World Cup.
Just before the start of the World Cup, Naib was appointed as the captain of Afghanistan replacing Asghar Afghan. This decision were criticized by the players back then. The two stars of Afghan cricket Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi publicly expressed their frustration over that decision.
Under Asghar Afghan, Afghanistan was much successful having won 31 ODI’s and 37 T20 matches.
