Indian famous commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle prefers Ravindra Jadeja as the player of the match in the first semifinal game between India and New Zealand at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Even though India lost the game to New Zealand by 18 runs, Harsha chose Jadeja for his spirited show in all departments.

The man of the match award of this match was gone to New Zealand’s Matt Henry for his phenomenal bowling performance. Henry picked up three crucial wickets ( Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Dinesh Karthik) of India to spark the batting collapse. He finished his bowling quota at 3/37 with a maiden. His contribution was crucial for New Zealand to beat India. That’s why he is given the man of the match award.
But Jadeja wasn’t far behind. He showed a true all-round performance against the Kiwis. In bowling, he picked up one wicket for 34 runs. In fielding, he was outstanding too. He inflicted run out to Ross Taylor and took a great catch of Tom Latham. But Jadeja showed his true class with the batting.
When Indian top order failed to come with terms, it was up to the Indian middle order to take the challenge. Jadeja played a superb knock of 77 from 59 balls and made a partnership of 115 runs with Dhoni. Both of them took India very close to victory from a very unfavorable situation(92/6). For this great effort, Harsha thinks Jadeja is the true man of the match of this game despite being on the losing side.
“It is a convention to give the player of the match award to someone from the winning side. Matt Henry was fantastic today but the performance of the match came from Ravindra Jadeja. He is my player of the match,” Harsha wrote on his Twitter account.
