Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has expressed his disappointment and said, Afghanistan doesn’t get much opportunity to play top class teams like Bangladesh. And that’s the main reason behind their poor performance in this World cup.
Afghanistan’s semifinal dream is over. They lost six matches out of six. Rashid thinks condition and lack of familiarity is the main reason behind this poor performance.
Rashid thinks continuous tour in the top cricketing nations is the reason behind Bangladesh’s success in the World. And if Afghanistan gets that opportunity they will also do well in the big stage Rashid believes.

“You see Bangladesh is doing very well in the World Cup. They are scoring 300 hundred against almost every team. The main reason behind that is, they played against South Africa in bouncy wickets. Recently they played ODI and test matches in New Zealand. The experience they gained from playing those bouncy wickets is helping them now. We also have a lot of talents in our team but the difference is that we don’t play regularly with sides like this.” Said Rashid.
Bangladesh went to New Zealand just before the World Cup, in 2017 Bangladesh played in South Africa to cope up with the bouncy wickets.
On the other hand, Afghanistan played 22 ODI series so far in their ODI history. And among these 22 ODI series, only three series were played against regular test playing countries, against Pakistan in 2012, against Australia in 2012 and against Bangladesh in 2016. Afghanistan hasn’t played any series in countries famous for bouncy wickets like South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and England.
Afghanistan will face Bangladesh in their seventh World Cup match at Southampton on Monday. This match will start at 3.30 pm ( BD Time ).
