We need better structure to nurture talents- Ambrose

After bright beginnings which raised the prospect of semi-final berths West Indies have rather disappointed since, albeit against some of the better teams in the tournament.
West Indies destroyed Pakistan in their opening game but then lost to Australia, had a washout against South Africa and were then pulverised by England and Bangladesh in the following matches.
The loss to Bangladesh cannot be termed anything less than humiliation as Tigers reached the mammoth target of crossing 321 runs with ease and disdain.

The West Indies opted to use five-man pace attack with the ploy of dismantling their opponent with flurry of short balls but when it hardly looked to have any impact on the batsmen their bowling unit lacked any plan B.
For the two time World Champions it was clearly a meek surrender and it didn’t go well with former legendary pace bowler Courtly Ambrose as well.
Ambrose, who is considered to be a representative of the golden generation of Caribbean’s, admitted that West Indies’ lacklustre state really hurt him a lot but he was hopeful they might have a bright future ahead with lot of talents are coming out.
‘‘Once upon a time you were the best team in the world for many, many years. And to see your cricket struggling at the moment, of course it hurts,’’ the former right-arm pacer said.
‘‘I used to play. I know what it’s like to be the best team. But the talent is still there, but we just need better structure so that we can nurture the talent. So, as we speak that is being set up. I am hoping that in a few years West Indies will be a force again in world cricket,’’ he concluded
