After the match between Australia and Sri Lanka on Saturday, something unusual happened as no one from the Sri Lanka team attended the press conference. As per the ICC rule, at least one player or coaching staff must attend the press conference; Sri Lanka might face punishment from ICC for not following this rule.

The Sri Lankan cricket hasn’t said anything yet regarding this situation. Sri Lanka lost to Australia by 87 runs in that match. Before the Sri Lankan team manager, Ashanta De Mel accused ICC to deprive the Sri Lankan team. He also pointed out that ICC prepared green pitches in all of their previous matches and their hotel accommodation is also not up to the standard. It’s believed that they have avoided the press conference as a protest against ICC.

De Mel believes the green pitch of Oval suited Australia more rather than Sri Lanka. And it's very incompatible form ICC to make such a kind of wicket for a particular team.

“In this World Cup, the top ten teams are participating. I think ICC should behave equally with each team. The pitch of Oval against Australia is totally green. What we have complained about it's not like that ‘ Grapes are Sour’. It's very incompatible that ICC will make the same pitch for a certain team and different pitch for the others.” De Mel said.

On Saturday at Kennington Oval, batting first Australia put up a mammoth total of 334 runs against Sri Lanka. Chasing that huge total Sri Lanka team got all out at 247 runs. After that defeat, no one from Sri Lanka came to the press conference.

Sri Lanka is in the fifth position of the point table with just a win against Afghanistan and two points from rain washouts. On the other hand, Australia climbed on to the top of the table with four wins.
