Toss will be crucial, says Steve Rhodes

Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes believed that toss will play a crucial role in the second Test due to the prevailing weather condition as the opening day’s play has been called off for due to persistent rain at Basir Reserve on Friday.
Match official said the play will start half an hour early tomorrow to compensate today's loss of overs but the forecast wasn't expected to be ideal and the weather seems to prove the meteorologist’s right as there were heavy downpours since 6 AM in Wellington.
The umpires called off play at 3:09 pm local time - roughly half an hour before the scheduled tea break and though none of the players from either side turned up at the ground, though a few members of the backroom staff, including Bangladesh coach Steve Rhodes, had gone down to the ground where there were a lot of puddles on the outfield while pictures never looked to be promising as there were ducks and seagulls playing in the outfield that was soaked to the limit.
“I think most importantly it makes the toss quite crucial,’’ Rhodes told reporters after the day play was called off.
“Today’s rain, the little bit of moisture around, tomorrow morning wicket will do quite a bit first morning. It’s not a chance to dry, so that makes the toss make a little bit more crucial,’’ he said reflecting on the weather forecast report.
The weather forecast suggests that it will remain gloomy, with rain predicted at Wellington at least until mid-Saturday and after there is a chance that the showers might decrease lightly but rest of the Test match is likely to be hampered by rain breaks.
