Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed has returned to the country from the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) due to unexpected illness of his wife.

The right-arm fast bowler had flown to take part in the tournament after receiving the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Taskin did not feature in any matches for his side, Kandahar Knights, and had to return attend to his ill wife. He was picked by the Kandahar-based franchise for a reported fee of 30 thousand dollars.

“It is true that I was expected to feature in the tournament but unfortunately had to come back as my wife is sick,” Taskin told reporters from Dubai.

Before the tournament, Taskin was keen to make a mark as he believed it would help him knock the door of the national selectors for a place in the national dressing room.

“If I get the chance in playing XI, then I will try my best to perform. I hope the APL will be a platform for me to get my confidence back,” Taskin was quoted as saying before flying out to Dubai.

The first season of the APL is being held in the UAE, where majority of the matches are taking place in Sharjah.

The five-team tournament which started on October 5 and will finish on October 21.
