Disgraced former Pakistan captain befuddled by selection policy

Former Pakistan opening batsman and captain Salman Butt expressed his bemusement at the selection policy of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Butt has been out of the international arena ever since he was alleged of spot-fixing in August 2010.
He was convicted of his crimes in 2011 and was jailed in November that year. He was, however, released in June the following year and his ban from international cricket also got lifted on September 2, 2015.
While Mohammad Amir was also one of the convicted, the left-handed pacer is already a regular fixture for the Pakistan cricket team, whereas Butt is struggling to make it to the team despite being in great form in the domestic circuit.

As a result, he is flabbergasted as to why some players have been given another chance while he seems to be still paying for his crime.
"Some of the players [who were banned after the PSL spot-fixing scandal broke out] have served minor bans and are now playing again and I am still stuck there," Butt told Cricbuzz.
According to him, he has already served the repercussions from his past deeds and isn’t currently aware of the criteria to be picked up by Pakistan Super League franchises.
"This makes no sense that I have to bear consequences of someone else's actions. It is common sense. I have done my job. I have completed my rehab and served my punishment. I should have no link whether someone does anything right or wrong.
"I don't know what the criteria of selection in the PSL is... I don't know what new criteria, other than scoring runs, has surfaced in this country. The franchises can better explain the grounds on which they pick players," he concluded.
