Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High Performance (HP) Chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy said that a bunch of coaches showed their interest from where they have made a shortlist of them for their High-Performance team ahead of the upcoming 2020 programs.

Durjoy also said they will soon appoint someone from them after scrutinizing their overall mindset towards cricket and players, their availability, interests and some other qualities related to their rules and regulations of the HP programme.

“It was our coordination meeting where we have basically discussed the main objective of this year’s HP programme and how we will start it. One of the things we have to do is to appoint a head coach for the squad,” said Naimur Rahman, who is also an executive board member of the BCB.

“We made a short-list of coaches who showed keen interests to be a coach for our HP team. We’ve decided to communicate and talk with them. Through it, we need to sort out their mindset, availability and interest towards cricket and players,” Durjoy briefed the media after coming out of the coordination meeting.

“We could have done this earlier of the time but the coronavirus pandemic delayed the overall matter. Our works had been disrupted a little bit for this but we have come out from that situation and became mindful to know works,” he added.

BCB has planned to arrange a series for the HP team. If everything is okay, HP will travel to Sri Lanka in September.

Bangladesh’s first Test captain admitted the matter of the tour, stating that they are planning to go for a tour to Sri Lanka for which they need to start the next course of action keeping the ongoing situation in mind.

“The second thing is the program, you know, everything is not the same now. It’s not just in our hands to start. Even then, we have to think about how to start our program, if we start it in the academy, the players’ accommodation, safety, hygiene - all these have to be considered in line with the current situation,” he said.

“We’re discussing how that could be made possible. We will sit down again with the proposal. We have discussed all these today,” he added.

Noteworthy, BCB had inked a two-year contract with Simon Helmot previously. The contract ended in December 2019 after which the BCB was in search of a high-profile coach for the inclusive training programme of the HP team in place Australian high-profile coach
