Tamim feels DPL need to start for the survival of cricketers

Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal said that they need to play the Dhaka Premier League as a major portion of the cricketers survives through it.
‘’Most importantly, we need to have the domestic cricket to start. Because I personally think there should be a domestic cricket before every international match. This domestic cricket is very important, especially in Bangladesh. About 70-80 percent of our cricketers earn their living through this Premier League. This Premier League is very important for our players economically,’’ Tamim was quoted during a Facebook live with a leading English daily on Wednesday.

Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, country’s traditional 50-over tournament is postponed for an indefinite period due to coronavirus pandemic recently.
CCDM, a unit of BCB which is tasked with the responsibility of holding the domestic Dhaka-based club tournament, conducted a meeting regarding the future of DPL as they were forced to stop the List A tournament after the first round on April 15.
The traditional 50-over cricket tournament of the country was first postponed on March 16 as per the government directive due to growing concern about the spread of coronavirus in Bangladesh.
On March 19, BCB declared the suspension of all cricketing activities in the country and at that point in time, CCDM officials said that they will wait till April 15 to take a final decision regarding DPL after assessing the situation and as there was no improvement of the situation they decided to call it off for indefinite period.
