Bangladesh Cricket Board’s High Performance chairman Naimur Rahman said on Saturday that HP unit will be conducting its program without joining hands with any other teams, unlike the past.

The development of HP unit often suffers as BCB mix-up the HP program with Bangladesh ‘A’ team activities that force most of their members quit the program half-way to complete their assignment with the “A” team either at home or away.

BCB often cited other Test playing nation are not very keen to play with Bangladesh HP squad while the program also has to take the blame of not coordinating properly with Bangladesh  A team schedule.

In 2018, BCB’s HP program ended with an ODI series against Bangladesh Under-19 squad after as they failed to get any overseas tour during 2018 that would have helped them judge their overall improvement.

HP unit were supposed to tour Sri Lanka in September but the tour was cancelled as the SLC was not keen to host them at their own expense but as the matter is resolved, Naimur believe it is high time HP program start running independently.

“We are hopeful about touring Sri Lanka as they have agreed to host us that they failed last year due to some financial problem,’’ Naimur told reporters after conducting the first meeting for the upcoming HP program.

“Last time we had some kind of binding like no one was willing to give us and tour or it[ our scheduling] was not matching with the A team,’’ he said.

“As that problem is solved [with the assurance of SLC] and we have got a separate program for HP there is no need for us to plan our HP program in accordance with Bangladesh  A team schedule,’’ he said.

“If there are players capable of representing the A team surely they will go but we want to keep the HP program within our boundaries,’’ he said.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on May 2015 formally launched US$1million worth High Performance Program with an aim to have the best-prepared players in international cricket.
