Batsman Soumya Sarkar believes that he needs to plan better in order to score more runs as he feels that due to proper planning he is unable to score despite getting the starts.
Sarkar is considered to be a talented batsman and is known for his ability to take on the short ball that is likely to be a major issue for the Bangladeshi batsmen during their upcoming World Cup campaign.
He has largely found it difficult to translate his potential into runs and as a result, struggled to find a regular place in all three formats of the game in the recent past.
The left-handed opener, who failed to make the cut for the ODI squad despite being included at the last minute for the Asia Cup, looked to be in a mission to prove his worth to the team management during the practice game against Zimbabwe where he scored a superb century.

That century proved to be the defining moment of his career as it forced his way for the last game against Zimbabwe where he scored 117 runs, his second ODI century and the first one since 2015.
Since then he was part of the ODI squad and though he could not explode as expected during his New Zealand ODI’s he certainly had got two starts as he scored 30 and 22 runs in the opening two games.
With the World Cup round the corner where Soumya likely to be playing a major part it is high time he starts delivering regularly and according to the left-handed batsman he is well aware of it.
“Actually I was totally new in this arena (International) at that time. If I get the opportunity this year, there will certainly be a good plan in place for the tournament,’’ Soumya told reporters ahead of the tournament on Thursday.
“So it is very crucial to take preparation before matches. Moreover, it is important to make an effective plan during the match. In many matches, I went out for 30 or 40. So I need to overcome this situation and plan accordingly. It is also important to learn from wickets. Probably I failed to manage, but I learned many things,’’ he said.
“Perhaps the plan will be different. I played freely as a junior cricketer at that time, but now I can't play like this and will feel pressure. However, I will try to execute my international experience after going there (World Cup),’’ he said.
“I will try to keep my courage which I showed before in the World Cup or Champions Trophy. Definitely, there is a plan. I have already said that I am trying to make a plan based on the situation of the game and doing a better game plan. Along with playing here, I have been thinking about the situation of England. If I throw my wicket early, then how my team will suffer- this type of things I am thinking right now,’’ he added.
