Bangladesh T20 skipper Shakib al Hasan said that he is fit enough to play and wanted to do the surgery after the Asia Cup.
Participation of Sakib remained a major talking point ahead of the tournament as Bangladesh have been rocked by a fresh round of uncertainty regarding Shakib al Hasan's fitness levels, as the cricketer himself was reportedly quoted as saying he was 20-30 percent fit while talking to a leading English daily over the phone from America.

Though later it was cleared that he was misquoted, but whether he is totally fit or playing with some niggles remained a question that was still unanswered until Friday when Sakib himself cleared all the air while talking with tournament broadcaster.
‘’Everyone is fit to play,’’ said Sakib while talking about the state of affair in the dressing room that includes himself along with Mushfiqur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman as both were rested against Afghanistan
When asked what is his plan regarding the surgery that he will require due to the finger injury that he sustained against Sri Lanka, the talismanic all-rounder said “I haven’t done the surgery, I will do it after the Asia Cup.’’ Since his return from West Indies, his availability for the Asia Cup has remained in doubt owing to a finger injury he sustained during a tri-nation series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka at home, which needs a surgery.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan, who initially didn't want Shakib to go under the knife before the multi-team event, did a U-turn and left the decision upto the player. The matter seemed resolved when BCB included him in the 15-man squad, but his latest admission about his fitness levels have raised concerns again before he cleared the air by submitting a clarification to the BCB through e-mail.
It was reported that Shakib had to take painkiller injection to make himself available during the tour of West Indies.
