The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s High Performance Camp has come to an end without any foreign tour as their tour of Sri Lanka was called off due to SLC’s decision to not clear any bills for their guests.

Therefore, HP Unit’s program concluded without any platform that can suggest the amount of growth these players have had during the four months of long training sessions.

HP Unit was supposed to tour Sri Lanka in the first week of September but it is now shelved as per the insistence of SLC. Meanwhile, the Unit had to bear the brunt of sending their players in the A team tour while also keeping in mind the forthcoming domestic season that will start from October.

“We had to cancel the HP Unit tour of Sri Lanka as they are not interested to put on any financial assistance,” said BCB game development manager Kawser Ahmed on Saturday. “Moreover, some of our cricketers were involved with Bangladesh ‘A’ team in the just concluded tour of Ireland. Secondly we also had to consider that our domestic season will start from coming October and we are hoping that they will be playing in it.”

Though HP toured England and Australia last year where they did not get the enough opportunities. And it shows that the HP program has not been directed in the manner that would help it become the pipeline for the national team.

The HP unit played few matches with Under-19 team and they are expected to feature in couple of more practice matches against national cricketers before the Tigers leave for their Asia Cup campaign.

“I am not sure whether this is the right way to conduct HP program as we are not sure how we want to take it forward,” leading local coach Salahuddin told reporters on Saturday.

“We must make sure they are guided in such a manner that they can give a hard time to the national cricketers, but unfortunately that is not the case,’’ he added.
