Zimbabwe show interest to host Bangladesh’s WT20 World Cup

Zimbabwe have emerged as a leading contender to host the Women's T20 World Cup this year, with the tournament initially scheduled to begin on October 3 in Bangladesh now likely to be relocated due to security concerns arising from anti-government protests, according to ESPNcricinfo.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the other potential host, following India's withdrawal from consideration on Thursday. The final decision is expected to be made by the ICC board on Tuesday, August 20.
The country has previously successfully hosted the ODI World Cup Qualifiers in 2018 and 2023 and is set to co-host the Men's Under-19 World Cup with Namibia in 2026, as well as the ODI World Cup with South Africa and Namibia in 2027.
The country last hosted a World Cup in 2003, along with South Africa and Kenya.
In preparation for these events, Zimbabwe is working with local authorities to develop two additional international cricket grounds in Victoria Falls and Mutare.
Currently, the country can offer the Harare Sports Club, which now features newly installed floodlights, and Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo as venues for the Women's T20 World Cup.
These venues were also used for the televised matches during the 2023 World Cup Qualifiers, with additional games streamed from Takashinga Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club.
