Stephen Fleming, the head coach of the Chennai Super Kings has heaped praise on Bangladesh cutter-master Mustafizur Rahman following his impressive performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

Mustafizur, who was signed by Chennai Super Kings in the 2023 IPL auction, has been in stellar form. He has delivered a string of match-winning performances that have been crucial to his team's success.

The left-arm pacer has claimed 14 wickets in just 8 matches so far, with an impressive economy rate of 7.2 runs per over. His ability to strike early and exert control in the middle overs with his slower has been a major factor in the Super Kings.

However, the pacer will need to leave CSK’s camp and join the Bangladesh team for the five-match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe, starting on May 3. The coach was disappointed with his departure amid the season but supported his decision for national duties.

“Mustafiz's performance was outstanding. In this condition, he is fantastic, especially on slow pitches. He is in great form. He is going away, which is very disappointing for us. However, the country's interest comes first. But Mustafiz has performed remarkably well in the IPL,”

The left-arm pacer claimed 10 wickets in five matches and currently holding the third position in the list of highest wicket-takers of the tournament.

In his debut season in IPL 2016, Mustafiz made a strong impression by taking 17 wickets in 16 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad. This remains his best season in IPL, and he could have surpassed himself if given more opportunities.
