Sylhet Division secured their first-ever National Cricket League (NCL) title by defeating Barishal Division by five wickets in their sixth-round match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a target of 105 runs on the final day, Sylhet faced early trouble, losing three quick wickets for just 27 runs.
However, skipper Amite Hasan, in fine form, partnered with Nasum Ahmed to steady the innings with a 77-run stand for the fourth wicket, bringing the team within reach of victory.
Nasum contributed 44 runs off 52 balls before he and Asadulla Al Galib (0) were dismissed in the same over.
Amite remained unbeaten on 38, hitting the winning run to seal Sylhet's maiden NCL title with one match still to play.
The victory took Sylhet to 37 points, 12 ahead of second-placed Dhaka Division. Under the tournament rules, a team can earn a maximum of nine points per match – eight for a win, with an additional point for winning by 10 wickets or an innings margin.
