Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the final two ODIs of the ongoing three-match series against Afghanistan due to a finger injury.
Reports indicate that Mushfiqur sustained the injury during the 49th over while keeping in the first ODI at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh suffered a heavy 92-run defeat after a dramatic batting collapse.
"Towards the end of Afghanistan's batting innings, Mushfiqur injured the tip of his left Index finger while keeping wickets. An X-ray after the match has confirmed a fracture on his left Index near the DIP joint. He is under conservative management and is not available for the second and third ODIs. Further updates on his condition and expected recovery period will be provided in due course." team physio Delowar Hossain said in a BCB statement.
Due to the injury, Mushfiqur had to bat lower down the order than usual, coming in at number seven and scoring just 1 run off 3 balls.
