The upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) draft includes 188 players in six categories, with 12 cricketers in Category A and B each. Category A has a maximum price cap of Tk 60 lacs, with lower caps for subsequent categories, down to Tk 10 lacs for Category F.
Former national captain Mashrafe Mortaza, 41, has been placed in Grade B for the player draft, despite his limited recent activity in competitive cricket and his focus on political duties ahead of the January election.
Category A will see the maximum price cap for the players (Tk 60 lacs). Subsequent categories will see a maximum price cap of Tk 40 lacs, Tk 25 lacs, Tk 20 lacs, Tk 15 lacs and Tk10 lacs respectively.
The top category consists of players like Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain, Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Towhid Hridoy, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain.
Category B features 12 players, including Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Anamul Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Zakir Ali, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Tanzim Sakib, Tanzid Tamim, Tanvir Islam, Shamim Patwari, and Sheikh Mahedi.
Meanwhile, 22 players such as Ebadot Hossain, Imrul Kayes, Zakir Hasan, Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Taijul Islam, Yasir Ali, and Saifuddin have been placed in category C.
Categories D, E, and F include 28, 51, and 63 players, respectively.
