The second Test of the Bangladesh-India series will begin on Friday in Kanpur, ahead of the match, Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha spoke at a press conference today at Green Park.

When asked for an update on Shakib Al Hasan's injury, the Sri Lankan coach stated that he has no official information regarding Shakib's injury status.

"I have not heard anything on Shakib regarding any complaints," Hathurusingha said.

In Chennai, selector Hannan Sarkar had said that Shakib was under observation and the team physio would keep assessing the all-rounder in Kanpur for any issues with his fingers.

Shakib had bowled less than usual in the first Test and was hit by a Bumrah delivery on the right hand while batting in the second innings in Chennai.

Hathurusingha also informed that Shakib was available for selection.

"About Shakib Al Hasan there is no doubt at the moment. I haven't heard from my physio or anyone, so he is eligible for selection," Hathurusingha said.

Shakib could not do well with bat and ball in Chennai Test. He was wicket-less for 50 runs in 8 overs in India's first innings. He was also wicket-less in the second innings with 79 runs in 13 overs. Batting, he was dismissed for 32 runs in the first innings of Bangladesh. He got out in the second innings after scoring 25 runs.

At the press conference, Hathurusingha was asked whether he was disappointed with Shakib's performance.

Hathurusinghe laughed a little before answering, “I am not disappointed with his performance, the performance of the whole team could have been better. I am sure he also knows that he can perform better. We all know his capabilities. I think he batted really well in the second innings.”
