South Africa to decide about Bangladesh tour this week

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is expected to decide by the end of this week whether the Test team will proceed with their planned tour to Bangladesh for two matches next month after consulting with the South African Cricketers' Association (SACA).
The series, as outlined in the Future Tours Programme, is set to begin on October 21. However, South Africa's decision to tour will be based on the security assessments that are currently being finalized.
A decision will be made collectively, which means it is unlikely that CSA will leave it to individual players to decide whether they are comfortable with travelling to Bangladesh.
The Women's T20 World Cup 2024, initially slated to be held in Bangladesh, was relocated after anti-government protests erupted there in early August.
South Africa have only six Test matches remaining in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. They've already played six matches, with two wins, three losses, and one draw.
Currently sitting seventh on the points table, they need to win at least five of their remaining games to have a shot at qualifying for next year’s final at Lord’s.
All six series in this WTC cycle have been restricted to two Tests each, as Cricket South Africa (CSA) has prioritized the launch of their domestic T20 franchise competition, SA20, and has been focusing on cost-cutting measures. At present, there are no plans to relocate the scheduled Test matches against Bangladesh.
