The T20 World Cup winners, team India are stranded in the Caribbean due to the arrival of Hurricane Beryl, which has intensified to an “extremely dangerous Category 4”.

The contingent including players, BCCI members and families are now stuck in the team hotel who were scheduled to leave Barbados on Sunday.

According to various reports, India were set to leave via a charter flight on Sunday (June 30), but the airport in Barbados was shut in anticipation of the tropical storm.

The storm has now reached Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, making it the earliest one on record. There was criticism of the ICC for organizing a World Cup during the rainy season in the Caribbean, which resulted in several abandoned or shortened matches.

Rohit Sharma and his men defeated South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final to end their 17-year title draught.
