Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Nazmul Hasan Papon expressed his confidence in the Tigers’ abilities stating that there is no chance of lowering expectations for the World Cup.

Papon emphasized the importance of playing good cricket, rather than solely focusing on winning or losing. However, the Youth and Sports Minister and BCB President expressed confidence in Bangladesh's chances of winning the upcoming tournament.

“There's no chance of lowering expectations. What I'm saying is that they should perform well. Winning and losing don't matter, neither to the supporters. If they can play good cricket,” said Papon.

“Apart from the last World Cup, we performed well in every World Cup. However, the last ODI World Cup was an exception as I played poorly. It's undeniable. We must play with more confidence. But it's also true that it is difficult to predict, especially in T20,” he said.

Bangladesh are placed in Group D along with Sri Lanka, South Africa, Netherlands and Nepal the matches will be played in both the USA and West Indies. The Tigers have to secure three matches to qualify for the Super-8.

Bangladesh hosted Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series as a preparation ahead of the World Cup, they will play another T20Is against the co-host the USA which will be their last assignment prior to the mega event.
